In deciding if this year long adventure with me, the Classical Pilates method + 5 Element Daoist philosophy, and with the group you will be a part of - here is more info from me in response to many of your questions.

Reminder : You can continue to learn and train with me (online/in person) outside of the Return Program if you prefer - attending classes and workshops, subscribing to CoreSelf, and booking 1:1 sessions online…I am still here for the ‘choose your own adventure’ ways for you to work with me. So don’t hesitate if you want to change your plan and not do the Return program officially but instead do other timing for working with me. It’s got to be a match, in present timing, for you!
Reminder : The Daoist philosophy of the 5 Elements will guide, or be the lens, for the structure of learning and going through the material. You don’t have to know anything about it now (but in fact you do because it’s alive in nature’s cycle and the seasons!), but just reminding you that I will share that information, the deeper language that connects emotions to channels and movement patterns, what it means to be present in the seasons in natures plus the seasons of training/teaching/evolving. That’s a unique angle to this Pilates mentorship that will give us a bit of a road map and will lead to some fun conversation and thought.
In addition, as I am a practicing licensed acupuncturist since 2009 and a Pilates teacher who trains a wide range of athletes, I will introduce Chinese Medicine adjunct therapies on treating pain, injury, and movement limitations. I will teach you an approach to healing and train you on some techniques.
Reminder : In that this is a Mentorship Program rather than an initial Teacher Training Program, I will not go through each exercise, in order, on how to teach, on all the apparatus. However, we will still be working on the Basic, Intermediate, Advanced Systems and content all around the room. And the 3 workshops will be generally themed to the 3 levels (and their corresponding Elements) but not limited to them. In regard to material, it will be about building a workout and building your teaching, where all is connected and we know where an exercise comes from and where it is going. We will feel into progressing and advancing, rather than following rules. So it is comprehensive but it is ‘next level’… I make no promises to cover every single exercise in every single system, but we will dive into the work around the whole room, and I will be present for what you/the group, wants to review and refine and work on!
I began training Pilates teachers in a full comprehensive program first in 2009. These first students worked with me but I was a branch to Dorothee VandeWalle’s program at Metropolitan Pilates in Seattle. In 2015 I branched out on my own and wrote my own Classical manuals where apprentices trained with me at Clasique for 2 years before they were certified through my program (and those apprentices are now all kickass teachers!). My 3 system manuals are edited and branded to match CoreSelf and the Return program since 2022, and once we have a final group, if you want the in your hand paper copy of all three systems, then I shall send them to you!
Yes, at the end of the year, I will print you a snazzy Certificate of Completion of the year long Classical Pilates Return Mentorship Program with Brooke Bergdahl of CoreSelf, Classical Pilates Teacher Trainer.
Yes, I expect you to be a self-directed learner here : there will be a website with video content, short workshops on apparatus, apparatus workouts, plus the CoreSelf HUGE library of mat/chair workouts. I will suggest ‘homework’ and offer guidance, and the group can get fired up about that together and hold each other accountable.
Yes, I expect the people in the group to be engaged in the group, active participants and will encourage you sharing your questions, your client struggles, your workout blocks, goals or stuck points etc.
Yes, your payments are quarterly to break up the Program tuition, however your commitment is for the year. I want each person very fired up for the full year of training together, rather than looking at it as 4 parts to be determined as you go.
Our meeting times - yes this will be a bit tricky, but part of navigating a group! Once we have a group decided (first week of March is my intention here, so get in for your private with me soon if I have asked you to do so!!).
Once we have a group, we will share more on time zones and work schedules and then choose ahead our monthly meetings (3x/month) and I anticipate that it will fluctuate month to month (but be booked ahead) rather than being locked in weekly. I anticipate that in a month we can find 1 meeting late in the day, 1 midday, 1 on a Saturday. But I am open to what unfolds with said group. It might also be that y’all decide to meet on zoom say every Tuesday at 2pm for a group-led workout and one of those becomes our meeting time/month also. You won’t be able to make each one, I know that, AND I will record all zoom meetings and they will be loaded into your private Return site shortly after so you are fresh and connected. I will have some travel with WNBA work and mom-life, but those are planned trips and also the internet travels well :), so we will plan 2-3month ahead our meeting times so we can all work around them.
Workshop dates = same plan. I will offer some weekend dates in May / Sept-Oct / Dec-Jan an then we will collectively decide what is best for the majority to attend live online/live in person!
And these 3 bigger workshops (plus the 2hr randomly offered Rooted and Wild online workshops through the year) will be open for all to register and join, although content geared towards our program.
